Entity_and_Attribute_Overview:
COUNTY Florida county nearest to the artificial reef project
CONTRACT DEP/OFMAS contract number, if the reef is a grant funded
deployment administered by OFMAS.
If not, tfield is blank.
FEDGRANT Federal Aid in Sportfish Restoration Program grant number, if
the project was funded by that
source. If not, field is blank.
GRANTEE Recipient of the OFMAS or Federal grant. It may be other than
the county (cities, non-profit organizations, or universities).
AMOUNT Amount (in dollars) of the grant if funded by OFMAS or Federal
grants. No data
is available for non-OFMAS grant projects.
DEPLOYDATE Date the materials were placed offshore, if known. If only the
year is known, then the
last day of the year is entered
example 1988 would be 12/31/88). If only a month and year is
known, then the last day of that month is entered (example July
1998 would be 7/31/98).
REEFNAME Common name for the reef site. This may or may not be the name
of the permitted site as several
reefs may be within one
permitted site. If a site is located within a shallow protected
area, the word
(BAY) is entered in parenthesis after the name.
If the reef was unintentionally sunk offshore during a storm
event or during war, the site is considered a wreck and a (W)
is placed beside the name.
MATERIAL1 Type of reef material that makes up the majority of that
deployment. If it is a ship or barge, the size is given in feet
(125'), if known. If the material is a prefabricated modular
unit,
the number of units is given in parentheses,(
(i.e. Reefballs (80)).
MATERIAL2 Second type of reef materials placed on the reef during that
deployment.
MATERIAL3 Third type of reef materials placed on the reef during that
deployment.
TONS Dry weight of the reef material deployed (in US tons), if known.
VOLUMEFT3 Volume of reef material in cubic feet, if known.
VOLUMEYD3 Volume of reef material in cubic yards, if known.
LORAN1 First set of LORAN time delay coordinates for the reef.
LORAN2 Second set of LORAN time delay coordinates for the reef.
DESCRIPTION Brief narrative description of the deployment. This field
contains the name of the ship if available.
DEPTH Depth in feet to the bottom at the time of deployment.
RELIEF Height in feet of the reef materials off the bottom (aka profile).
DIVEDATE Most recent date that OFMAS divers visited the site in
month/day/year format. This would be updated after the dive
event and the previous dive date shifted to the field 'PREDIVE1'.
GPS Code to indicate which set of coordinates are presumed to be the
most accurate,
the lat/long or Loran. It represents how these
more accurate coordinates were generated, if known.
CODE: Values
DGPS: Lat/longs were taken by DGPS unit on the reef
GPS: Lat/longs were taken by a non-differential GPS unit on the reef
LOR: LORAN coordinates were taken by LORAN unit on the reef
PYB: LORAN coordinates were taken directly from the 1997 edition of
the "Atlas of
Artificial Reefs in Florida: Fifth Edition", edited
by Don Pybas, Florida Sea Grant. If blank, it is unknown how
these coordinates were generated and which sets are most accurate.
LORAN is assumed to be more accurate prior to about 1995. Most
of the non-field generated
coordinates were mathematically
calculated using the LORANGPS(tm) software by Andren Software
using ASFs from the 1984 Defense Mapping Agency tables.
PREDIVE1 "Previous Dive 1" which would be the date of second most recent
site visit
by the OFMAS dive team. It is moved from the fieldd
"DIVEDATE" after a new site visit to the same
reef accomplished.
PREDIVE2 "Previous Dive 2" which would be the date of third most recent
site visit by the OFMAS dive team. It is moved from the field
"PREDIVE1" after a new site visit to the same reef accomplished.
DEPLOYNUM Code for deployments making up a separate "reef".
A separate
reef is defined by DEP as two deployments within 300 feet of each
other (i.e. one 'reef' with two 'deployments'). If a reef is no
closer than 300 feet to another reef, then it has a "1"
in this
field. If it is closer than 300 feet to its nearest neighbor it
is given a 2, 3, 4, . . . etc.
for as many deployments that are
within 300 feet of each other. Therefore, if a subset of "reefs"
is needed, as opposed to "deployments", then a simple sort for
all records with a "1" in this
field will provide the number oof
separate reefs.
DEPLOY Indicates whether OFMAS staff present for material deployment.
PREDIVE3 "Previous Dive 3" which would be the date of fourth most recent
site visit by the OFMAS dive team. It is moved from the field
"PREDIVE2" after a new site visit to the same reef accomplished.
PREDIVE4 "Previous Dive 4" which would be the date of fifth most recent
site visit
by the OFMAS dive team. It is moved from the field
"PREDIVE3" after a new site visit to the same
reef accomplished.
COAST This field indicates whether the reef is on the Gulf Coast "G",
or Atlantic "A" coast of Florida.
