Description

Tree to 18 m. Leaves alternate, long stalked, trifoliate, toothed margins, bronze-toned, leaflets 15-20 cm long. Flowers tiny, greenish-yellow, no petals, in clusters at leaf axils. Fruit a pea-sized berry, brown or reddish or black.

Habitat

Hammocks, disturbed sites, cypress swamps

Comments

Vouchered north to Pinellas Co, established in south. Female plants produce many bird-dispersed seeds.
