Weather is defined in the 1913 Webster's Dictionary as:
"The state of the air or atmosphere with respect to heat or cold, wetness or dryness, calm or storm, clearness or cloudiness, or any other meteorological phenomena."
Geologists study the way weather interacts with soils, rock, and vegetation to help shape the land.
Florida's warm weather may be the most important factor in attracting so many new residents in the last few decades. Tropical south Florida is getting more and more crowded, and recently, more and more new residents have come to the ARROW region. Although the weather here isn't tropical, it's still warmer in winter than most of the other states.
Not only must planners in the ARROW region consider population growth inspired by the region's good weather, but also they must plan for bad weather. The region's frequent and occasionally severe thunderstorms, as well as rarer weather events such as hurricanes, require evacuation plans and stormwater plans.
