Description

Evergreen tree to 30 m tall, bark rough grey to black on lower trunk, smooth gray-green above. Alternate or opposite leaves, simple, leathery and rough to touch, ovate to 20 cm long and 11 cm wide, with wavy margins. Small creamy white flowers in clusters with numerous stamens. Fruit a large, nearly round woody capsule with many reddish seeds.

Disturbed sites, open woodlands
